National wellness coaching certification requirements are about to change

If you haven’t heard, there are big changes on the horizon for the National Board for Health and Wellness Coaching (NBHWC) certification process. After October 30, 2020 you’ll see an increase in both the required number of hours and the cost of national exam prerequisites. This means that now is the ideal time to start your own pathway to receiving a wellness coaching certification under the current standards and requirements. NBHWC’s Transition Phase requirements allow students a window of opportunity to qualify for the national board certification exam at a lower cost and with less required training hours.  According to the NBHWC website: “To enable practicing health and wellness coaches to earn the designation of National Board Certified Health & Wellness Coach (NBC-HWC) prior to the standards released in 2018, NBHWC implemented a Transition Phase. Practicing coaches are encouraged to sit for the HWC Certifying Examination to become National Board Certified during the Transition Phase.” Further details on approved training programs can be found here. So, if you’ve been contemplating becoming a wellness coach, now is a great time to start the process. Aside from the timing, consider the many other reasons a wellness coach certification could be right for you:
